December 3, 2020: SDGE Warns of Possible Power Shutoffs

Families…. Please review the message below about possible power shutoffs. Some teachers and staff members at TMES  might be impacted.

Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff:

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning, as potentially strong and multi-day Santa Ana winds are forecast for Southern California that could increase the risk of wildfires. As a result, San Diego Gas & Electric has notified about 88,700 customers that they could be at risk of prolonged Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS). Chula Vista is among the communities that might be impacted through such shutoffs.

Public Safety Power Shutoffs could happen as early as Wednesday night/Thursday morning and potentially last through Sunday/Monday. Please note that if a power outage does indeed come to fruition, our District will work with the San Diego County Office of Education to determine the next steps with attendance for the affected period.

We ask for your patience and flexibility, as teachers may also be affected by power outages if teaching from home and synchronous instruction might be limited. Similar impacts could be experienced by students at our campuses hosting the Distance Learning Support Program.
