TMES Families,

Please read the letter below from our new community partner EastLake Educational Foundation. We are excited about this new partnership. Dear Thurgood Marshall Community:

The Coronavirus pandemic has created a crisis for all of us and schools have felt some of the greatest impacts in our community.  Everyone is bending to make education work but despite the collective good efforts, the needs are still great. Together we can find ways to be a part of the solution- the Community Come Together Campaign & Rally is a chance to do just that.

As a school in the EastLake community, Thurgood Marshall is one of the seven schools that will benefit from the funds raised during the Campaign.  We invite you to get involved. Encourage your friends, family, places of employment, and your favorite businesses to participate in the fundraising efforts.

For 26 years the EastLake Educational Foundation (EEF) has built a bridge of support for our neighborhood public schools. The EastLake Educational Foundation (EEF), a trusted 501(c)(3), is launching the 2020 COME TOGETHER CAMPAIGN & RALLY which will run from November 19- December 31. To jump start the campaign we will host a kickoff Rally on November 19 -20, 2020 beginning each day at 10 am. You will hear from local schools, community leaders, and businesses. In fact, Thurgood Marshall will be featured!

To add to the fun, donors will have a chance to win some fun prizes.

This is a wonderful time to celebrate our community and come together in gratitude and thanksgiving while helping our schools meet the needs of the students.

Together, let’s pitch-in and raise the money needed to pay for critical supplies and resources that our public schools so urgently need. Supplies like computers, tablets, internet access, WiFi hotspots, and professional development for teachers.

This is an excellent investment because 100% of the money raised will go to local public schools.

A full list of the programming for the Rally will be posted on eefkids.org when we get closer to the event date. We will celebrate your contribution during the campaign. A tax letter will be provided for your records.

Within each home in our community, there is a story to tell. During these challenging times, many of us have lost loved ones or had to face illness ourselves–or both. Some have lost or left jobs due to a layoff or the need to stay home to support kids while distance learning. Some of us have been home alone for months or been tasked with caring for an elderly family member. The stories of these times will be told for years to come. Let’s make sure one of those stories centers on how we all came together to help our children succeed.

Please thoughtfully consider making a generous donation in any amount. Your donation will make a world of difference to so many kids right here in our community. You may have kids in school now, or in previous years. You may be a past student, a community member, or a business that serves the community—we need everyone to step up at this pivotal time.

Thank you for your support. Please go to eefkids.org or text community to 72572 and donate today.  You can also send a check to The EastLake Educational Foundation at PO BOX 21004, Chula Vista, CA 91921. Together, we can help our kids succeed even in these challenging times.

In gratitude,

Janet Francis
