Important Reminders/Information:

Productive Struggle: Do you find yourself answering your child’s homework, i-Ready, and math questions? The productive struggle is a normal experience in the learning process. Many of our families want to save their children. We understand the normal parenting of wanting to help, but the reliance on parents to provide the answer can adversely impact our Mustangs self-independence skills and sense of autonomy. Here is a quick two-minute video to learn more about the productive struggle. Mustangs must be challenged by their thinking.

New CVESD Parent Re-Opening Handbook: Did you receive the new Handbook? Here is the link CVESD Re-Opening Handbook

If you are not sure what the specific schedule is for your child, please contact the classroom teacher. If your family will be out of town for more than five days and cannot access distance learning online, please contact Mrs. Garcia for an Independent Study contract.

Student Learning, Achieve, and I-Ready: Families, please ensure that your children are completing their weekly minutes of Smarty Ants, Achieve, and I-Ready. All programs will measure your child’s performance as well as our end-of-the-year school measure. Help our Mustangs achieve academic success by working on their individual level towards their grade-level standards. Questions on how to access your child’s data, contact the teacher.

February 19, 2021: APEX! APEX! APEX!

Did you miss the letter in the TMES Parent Weekly about APEX?  If so, read it below.

.

Mighty Remix

APEX started this week! We hope that your child has talked to you about APEX. Normally, our Mustangs would run laps on the field to help our school earn monetary donations for PTC. This year, our Mustangs will be participating in the APEX Remix. Apex’s leadership program focuses on developing student self-control and interpersonal skills vital for school and life success. This year’s MIGHTY theme will take students on an exciting journey as they learn the different habits it takes to be a MIGHTY leader! These quick, engaging lessons tie in with our school’s vision and mission, encourages students to create a positive environment, and inspires them to lead by example.

  • Mindful
  • Integrity
  • Grit
  • Hero
  • Think Ahead
  • Your Turn

We have the most amazing staff and the most supportive families here at our school, and that is what makes our community so great! We appreciate you and we’re excited to begin this wonderful program.

February 18, 2021: New Parent Council and CVESD Playbook

NEW…Reopening Playbook for Parents

CVESD is pleased to announce the release of the Reopening Playbook for Parents. This document outlines our safe return to in-person instruction. Please review this “Parent Playbook” thoroughly by clicking here or copying and pasting this link into your web browser: https://indd.adobe.com/view/0476af62-e46a-44d1-9348-5fc8660c582b

As part of our agreement with Chula Vista Educators, which is the bargaining group that represents teachers, our District will reopen to in-person instruction starting with a “hybrid” instructional format—provided that all health and safety conditions are met. A key condition is that San Diego County return to the “red” tier as defined in the state’s tiered-level system. Our County is currently in the most restrictive “purple” tier. Our County will need to drop to an adjusted case rate of 7 or fewer new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people—for two consecutive weeks—before we can start in-person instruction. As of this writing, there is reason for optimism that a move to the red tier is on the horizon, based upon the downward trend in adjusted case rates. Once that occurs, parents and school staff will be provided two-weeks’ notice before the start of the first day of in-person school to ensure adequate preparation.

Please note that the Governor’s updated guidance came out just days ago—months after CVESD reached an agreement with our teachers about a safe return to in-person instruction. Be reassured that our District is prepared for in-person instruction in a “hybrid” model with students attending either morning or afternoon sessions in order to minimize the number of individuals on campus at any one time. Parents also will have the option to keep their child(ren) in distance learning for the remainder of 2020-21 school year.
