  • Q2: 10/5/2021-12/17/2021
  • November 11, 2021: Veterans Day
  • November 22, 2021-November 26, 2021: Thanksgiving Break
  • December 20, 2021-January 7, 2022: Winter Break
  • January 11, 2021: Students Return- Minimum Day

Solar Construction: We have solar construction on campus daily.

Campus Arrival: Mustang Families, please help us stay safe by ensuring the following:

–> Refrain from turning left on MacKenzie Creek and Rocking Horse. The no-left turn is a city of Chula Vista traffic sign. Families that enter on MacKenzie creek when the gate is closed and drive against traffic are causing a safety hazard for children and families. We ask that families follow the safety guidelines.

–> Exit out of one lane on MacKenzie Creek. Yelling at arguing with other Mustang families is not the Mustang way. Please have patience and flexibility. Safety Patrol will be coming very soon.

–> Park in visitor parking only.

— > Blocking cars while waiting is not safe. Please park in the surrounding community.

ELAC Representative: We are looking for families to help support our ELAC. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Alma Zamani at Alma.Zamani@cvesd.org. We need our Mustang families to join us to support our students.

Safety Patrol is Coming: We are so excited to share that Safety Patrol is coming soon. We know our families want both gates open, but we cannot do so without crossing support for the MacKenzie Creek exit. We appreciate your patience and kindness to our fellow Mustang parents and students while exiting. If you want to help with traffic, please call the front office and leave your first name, last name, and contact information. Thank you in advance for supporting the safety of our Mustang families.

Has your child earned an award or achievement in the community? We want to know. Please let us know if your child has earned an award or achievement in the community. We love to celebrate our Mustangs in front of the whole community. Our Mustangs need to know that we are excited and support their community achievements. For example, Marshall Mustang earned first place in the Eastlake swim match on September 6, 2021. Please call the front office and leave the information with Liz or Christine. Dr. Loyce will highlight the Mustang student at the morning Rally.

Mask Update: The Chula Vista Elementary School District will mandate properly positioned and correctly fitted masks to be worn at all campuses, including District offices, at all times, regardless of vaccination status. Adults may only remove masks when actively eating or drinking. Masks must be worn if anyone is around, students or staff, vaccinated or not. This includes parents/guardians who may be walking their students onto campus. Students may remove their masks only to play at recess and to eat, both of which should happen outdoors, weather permitting. Masks are required in hallways while traveling to and from the playground and lunch area.

Campus Safety: Students cannot arrive on campus before 8:15 a.m. unless they are in the YMCA program. Students must be picked up daily by their parent or guardian Students who remain after school must be signed in at an assigned approved program, D.A.S.H. or the YMCA Child Care. TMES does not provide after-school supervision for students who are waiting for parents or siblings.  Students are not allowed to remain after school and play on the playground or campus unsupervised.

Bus Loop Safety: The bus loop is only for school busses only. We have families driving in the bus loop during the day and looking into the playground, blocking busses, or dropping students off in the loop. We want to make sure everyone is safe. When individuals drive their vehicles in the bus look and look at staff and students, this action is causing concern to our students and staff as they are worried people are unsafe. Any questions or concerns regarding recess, please contact the classroom teacher. Questions, please contact the office.

Arrival and Departure Reminders:

  • For children who line up on the blacktop, parents enter/exit through the blacktop gate.  Please exit as soon as morning announcements are finished or by 8:50 a.m.  Do not escort your child to class because we lock gates at 8:45 when school starts.
  • The gate by the front office is open from 8:15-8:45 a.m.  This gate is intended for late student arrivals starting at 8:45 so parents must exit out of the blacktop gate to avoid the crowding at this gate.  Students arriving after 8:45 need to come into the office to get a late slip and will be let onto campus through the locked gate by someone in the office.  Parents will be allowed to enter campus with their students.
  • For children who arrive at Zone 1 (TK, Kinder, SDC students) please remember to pick up from this gate.  Parents will be asked to remain outside of the gate after your student is picked up until 3:15 when all the gates will be opened.  Do not come onto campus and wait for student dismissal.
  • Remember, no dogs are allowed on campus at any time.

Together we can have a smooth transition to the beginning and end of the school day for all students!  Thank you.

FREE COVID-19 TESTING: Get a PCR/NAAT or Antigen test at a free County facility, at a medical provider, or our District Office (Education Services and Support Center), located at 84 East J Street, Chula Vista. The district office site hours are from M-TH 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Currently, we can only test STAFF and CVESD STUDENTS. No family members can test, at this time. In addition to the ESSC, the County of San Diego has opened a COVID-19 testing center that is also free, and with longer hours that include Saturday testing opportunities. Is your child sick? Please call the office and notify our staff of any illness-related concerns. If your child is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and/or gets sent home, we cannot accept the Antigen test for their return to campus. PCR/NAAT tests are needed for anyone who is symptomatic—or who is asymptomatic (doesn’t have symptoms) yet tested positive with an Antigen test.  As always, please contact our school office staff if your child will be absent from school for any reason,

Please note, for students physically at school, parents/guardians must speak with school office staff regarding the reason for any student absence from class.

October 15, 2021: TMES Safety Patrol & Be a Buddy Week

TMES Safety Patrol Starts Monday, October 18, 2021

The School Safety Patrol (SSP) program is governed by Chula Vista Elementary School District and is operated by the individual schools with the assistance and guidance of the Chula Vista Police Department. The primary responsibility of the SSP is to assist students in safely crossing the streets while going to and from school. On Monday, October 18, 2021, we will have our first squad on duty in over one year. We are very excited as this will help support traffic in and around campus. Our Safety Patrol Mustangs will be on duty at San Lucas and MacKenzie Creek for arrival and departure between 8:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. Students will be wearing red and white.

Califonia Ed Code 49304  authorizes Safety patrol to give traffic signals and directions to assist school pupils in safely crossing streets and highways. Please be respectful, listen, and courteous to our Safety Patrol members as they are responsible for ensuring everyone’s safety to and from campus. While on duty, members of patrol can not socialize with friends or community members. It is essential to remember to observe the crosswalks and follow the directions of the safety patrollers.

If you have questions and or concerns regarding Patrol members, please direct concerns to the coordinator or front office and not the students on duty.

It is important for our Mustangs to know that we are excited and support their community achievements. For example, Marshall Mustang earned first place in the Eastlake swim match on September 6, 2021. Please call the front office an leave the information with Liz or Christine.

Do not escort your child to class due to the fact that we lock gates at 8:45 when school starts.

Together we can have a smooth transition to the beginning and ending of the school day for all students!  Thank you.

FREE COVID-19 TESTING: Get a PCR/NAAT or Antigen test at a free County facility, at a medical provider, or at our District Office (Education Services and Support Center), located at 84 East J Street, Chula Vista. The district office site hours are from M-TH 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Currently, we can only test STAFF and CVESD STUDENTS. No family members are able to test, at this time. For Spanish-language, make sure to select that option in the drop-down menu. Here is the County info:

SDCOE Decision Tree: All families are encouraged to read the SDCOE COVID decision tree. All schools are required to follow this protocol. https://covid-19.sdcoe.net/portals/covid-19/Documents/Health%20Practices/COVID-19-Decision-Tree.pdf

Is your child sick? Please call the office and notify our staff of any illness related concerns.

Please note, for students physically at school, it is very important that parents/guardians speak with school office staff regarding the reason for any student absence from class.

**Follow the Procedures Below if Your Child or Someone in the House is Sick or Tests Positive for COVID-19**
