New Important Announcement:

• Effective Monday, August 2, 2021, parents/guardians will be to drop off and pick up their child on the school campus, following health and safety guidelines.
• Families can not leave their vehicles unattended in the arrival/departure zones.
• Arrival: Parents can drop off their child at the blacktop (Grades K-6).
  • Parents are expected to leave campus immediately following dropping off or picking up their children.
• Departure: Parents are expected to wait outside the gates until the bell rings and then can proceed to the classroom for pick-up. Families are expected to leave campus immediately following picking up their child.
• If local or state guidelines change, the CVESD may revise this practice, accordingly.

Greetings Families,

Our Mustangs survived the first day of school! We knew they could do it!

There were a lot of smiles and a few tears, but that is always expected on the first day. We encourage all families to check-in with your child about their day. Please celebrate with your child tonight. Cheers to the success of the first day! One day down and 179 to go.

Thank you for being kind to our Mustang families while driving, waiting, parking, walking, etc. It will take a few days for families to figure out the Mustang system. Please review the map and follow our traffic guidelines.

Breakfast and Lunch: FREE for all students.

Personal items: Please ensure your child has their first and last name on their water bottles, snack bags, lunch bag, inside jackets, etc. If there is a lost item, we want to get it back to the owner. Appropriate identification will help.

Important Reminders

Outside, on campus, no one is required to wear a mask.

Students and staff are required to wear a mask indoors.

• Parents and staff are asked to conduct health screening at home.
• No temperature checks are required for staff/students upon entry to the school site, but we will monitor student/staff well-being throughout the day and take temperatures if a student or staff member develops symptoms or is not
  feeling well. Any student who exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 will be sent to an area for health screening. After the health screening, if determined that the student will need to be sent home, the student will be sent home.
• All staff and students will be required to wear a mask indoors. Students will be provided a face mask if they do not have one.
• Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to school.
• Social distancing will not be required.

Essential Arrival & Departure Information

• At TMES, we do not have enough parking spots for our staff.
• Park in the community and walk into the campus. Or, walk from home.
• Reserved parking is for staff.
• Due to safety, students can not be dropped off in the parking lot. A car can hit a student by parking or leaving. Please help us
  keep our students safe.

***Make an arrival and departure plan. Communicate the plan to your child. This will help our Mustangs know where they should meet your family after school. Important considerations.***

Where will they be dropped off and picked up?

What zone? All students in grades 1-6 six can enter the campus at any zone.

Will they pick up their younger sibling first, then walk to the zone

Will they walk home? Will they be picked up? Who will pick them up?

Will they ride the school bus?

Families will wait at the gate during arrival and departure. Make sure your child knows where they will meet you daily.

Student Arrival:
• Multiple entry points are established for ease of campus entry.

Arrival Time: 8:15 a.m. – 8:44 a.m. & School starts at 8:45 a.m.

Zone 1: TK, Kinder, 604, 702, 703 ( For the first few weeks)
Zone 1/500: 500 Building (Grades 1-6)
Zone 2: Flag Pole (Grades 1-6)
Zone 3: Auditorium Gate (Grades 1-6)

• Students in grades K-6 will walk on campus to their line-up destination.
• Kinders will walk to the Kinder Gate for the first couple of weeks.

Families will wait at the gate during arrival and departure. Make sure your child knows where they will meet you daily.

Student Dismissal:
• Students in grades 1-6 will be dismissed to the designated zone for pick-up, bus, or individual
walking.
•Students in grades TK, K, 604, 702,  and703 (non-bus riders) will wait in the kínder playground for adult pick-up.

Visitors and Volunteers 

We love our families! See you soon.
• CVESD guidance is to limit visitors/volunteers on campus. Visitors and volunteers are not permitted on campus at this time. If you wish to volunteer, check with your child’s teacher to see if there is something you can do virtually.
• Two visitors in the office at a time due to space.
• No volunteers or visitors in the classrooms at this time.
• When volunteers are allowed, all volunteers must be vaccinated and go through volunteer application in order to be on campus and must wear a mask at all times.

Returning To School: A Milestone Reached, Together

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Welcome back to school! I am so excited to see that students and staff will be at our campuses again full-time, starting on Wednesday, July 21. I know the past year and a half has been tough on all of us. Thankfully, we continue to reach new milestones in combatting COVID-19. A full return to school is the greatest sign yet of a return to normalcy. Safely returning to in-person instruction in the new school year is a priority to local, state and federal officials alike. Vaccination is currently the leading public health prevention strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic, and San Diego County continues to be a leader in the state in regards to vaccination rates.

In addition, please know that each of our schools has gone to great measures to keep students and staff safe. Our campuses and operating procedures will not look the same as pre-pandemic. Schools have upgraded ventilation systems and/or added purifiers to each classroom; received hand sanitizer and other safety supplies, and adapted to continuously evolving safety guidance. We are confident schools are the best and safest places for students to learn and succeed.

Procedures continue to evolve. Just last Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidance to stress the full reopening of schools and recommended masks only be worn by the unvaccinated. Our state is taking a safer, cautious approach. As of this writing, masks are still required when indoors in K-12 schools, according to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). While students are on campus, masking indoors is required for everyone—including for vaccinated individuals. Once ALL students are off campus, fully vaccinated people are not required to mask indoors, according to CDPH.

Students will be able to remove their masks outdoors. Our schools will make every effort to serve meals outdoors. Where cafeterias or group dining rooms must be used, our schools will work to keep students together in their stable groups, and practice physical distancing as much as possible. Additionally, our schools will practice and emphasize hand hygiene before and after eating.

As an elementary school district, we note that nearly all of our schools serve children under the age of 12 who are not eligible for vaccination at this time. Therefore, we follow guidance that emphasizes implementing multi-layered prevention strategies (e.g., using multiple prevention strategies together consistently) to protect people who are not fully vaccinated, including students, teachers, staff, and other members of their households. We have stressed multiple prevention strategies throughout the pandemic.

You may have additional questions about school procedures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 when we resume classes. I invite you to tune in to our Virtual Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 15 to hear updates about the new school year. Click here at 6 p.m. on that date to access the meeting.

As a reminder, CDC’s guidance is not binding for California schools, which must abide by requirements from state and county public health. State officials have indicated that they will review and align state guidance with the CDC’s. We will alert you when the California guidance is issued.
