Important Reminders for TMES: We Need Your Help!!!

Greetings TMES Families,

Please read the important reminders below.

Gates: Parents are expected to leave campus immediately following dropping off or picking up their child. 705 is the only gate that families can exit out of in the morning. Families are required to exit when the 8:45 a.m. bell rings (Start time). Students that arrive after 8:45 a.m. at any gate are late and will be directed by staff to enter the campus via the front office gate and obtain a tardy slip. Due to students coming in the front office gate, families can not exit out of the front gate.

All persons walking on campus after the dismissal bell to pick up students are expected to wait in the following zones for student pick-up.

Zone 1: Wait outside of the kinder gate behind the blue line.

Zone 1-500: Wait behind the 500 building gate.

Zone 2: Wait behind the blue line in front of the school administration building.

Zone 3: Wait behind the gate.

Gates will open at 3:00 p.m. for kinder and 3:15 for grades 1-6. No visitors are allowed on campus to wait next to a classroom to pick up their children. All students will exit the campus at the bell. Students will walk to their designated departure zone for their expected pick-up. Parents of kinder students waiting are asked to help keep the volume of their conversations to a minimum as students in grades 1-6 are still learning. Grades 1-6 dismiss at 3:15 M-Th and 1:45 on Friday. All staff will remind visitors to exit if they are on campus prior to the bell. Questions, please contact the front office.

Masks: The Chula Vista Elementary School District mandates properly positioned and correctly fitted masks to be worn at all campuses, including District offices, at all times, regardless of vaccination status. Masks must be worn if anyone is around, students or staff, vaccinated or not. This includes parents/guardians who may be walking their students onto campus. Masks are required on CVESD property including the sidewalks where other children or families are present.

Parking: Visitor parking is available in the community and across from the mural area in the first six spots or unmarked stalls within the parking lot. Please refrain from parking in reserved/numbered spots, as they are reserved for staff. Families can not leave their cars unattended for drop-off or arrival at any zone and/or park in red or yellow marked curbs. Please help us follow the safety guidelines. Questions, please contact the front office.

COVID (Health and Safety): Protecting the health, safety, and well-being of our school community remains our top priority. CVESD has implemented updated COVID-19 safety protocols in alignment with California Department of Public Health mitigation strategies to keep our students and staff safe while on campus. It is our hope that through proactive safety measures and clear communication we can keep our classrooms open and students participating in in-person instruction daily. It will take a collaborative effort between home and school to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19 on our campuses and ensure a successful school year.

Help us prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our school community by screening your child before school each day. We ask your family to conduct health screenings for their child(ren) before leaving for school each morning. This could include checking your child’s temperature, assessing for symptoms consistent with COVID-19, and asking your child “do you feel well today?” Please do not send your child to school medicated with symptoms or with COVID related symptoms. If you have any questions on if you should send your child to school, contact the front office. Below, you will find a list of symptoms:

Fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea.

Also, do not send your student to school if they have been identified as a close contact or have had possible exposure to a COVID-19 case and are awaiting COVID-19 test results. We want to keep staff and students safe and we need your help.

Staff members will monitor student health throughout the day and temperature checks will be conducted if a child appears to not feel well or develops symptoms while at school. Chula Vista Elementary School District requires any student or staff exhibiting a fever or any of the COVID-19 symptoms to be immediately sent home.
